Now, in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t a laughing matter, but I can’t help but laugh at the way the robber immediately threw his hands up and skedaddled through the same shattered glass he had created.

I don’t think I would have come around the corner the way he did. Don’t get me wrong, it worked for him, and I think his so-called violence of action is what caused the robber to become startled and take off, but what if the robber decided to stay and fight instead of flee?
Everyone startled response isn’t to flee
I would have probably leaned out the door and made my comband with my gun pointed so that if they did decide to stay and fight, I could take some cover or concealment after firing my shots.
