Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters emphasized what the gun community has been saying for years that firearms themselves should not be vilified, but rather the responsibility lies with the individuals who wield them.

Waters conveyed this message following an incident where a suspected individual in his twenties reportedly initiated gunfire within a Jacksonville Dollar General store, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said, “The Story’s always about guns. People are bad; this guy’s a bad guy. [But] if I take my gun off right now and lay it on this counter, nothing will happen. It’ll sit there — but as soon as wicked person grabs ahold of that handgun and starts shooting people with it — there’s the problem.”
