After suspected robber Roger Derek Brown had allegedly broken into her family’s business in Newnan, Georgia, for the sixth time, Darlene Brogdon had had enough, so she took matters into her own hands — literally.
“This guy started stealing stuff from them, and we had security cameras, and we had seen him on the film many times,” she told Atlanta’s WAGA-TV.
Brogdon’s stepfather, whom she described as “elderly,” decided he would spend the night at the business just in case the thieves decided to return for a seventh time. Brogdon stayed with him, and she brought her gun.
Sure enough, Brogdon noticed a truck starting to drive up onto the property Sunday night. She saw Brown and his alleged accomplice, Frederick Robinson, inside. While her mom dialed 911, Brogdon confronted the two men — firearm in hand.
