In a Senate filled with 24 Republicans and only 15 Democrats, one would expect bills supporting or expanding gun rights to be approved, but that’s not the case with three key gun rights bills in Florida. One of the bills would have allowed concealed carry weapons to be carried up to the doors of a courthouse. Another bill would have removed the penalty for anyone in the state to accidently reveal their gun and the third bill would have allowed concealed carry weapons in private schools, daycare and religious institutions. All three bills were essentially killed before they ever came to the floor for a vote They were killed by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The authors of the bills are not sure if they will try to reintroduce any of the bills in the upcoming 2018 session.
