There is an intrinsic and powerful relationship between the First and Second Amendment in America, and those who misjudge that bond are easily ridiculed.
Such is the case in Maryland, where a pair of Second Amendment advocates were arrested just outside of the State House. Police had asked the men to remove themselves from the public sidewalk near the entrance to the legislative chambers. The protesters argued that they should not be removed, as they were exercising their First Amendment right to free speech.
Then the handcuffs came out.
Now, however, republicans within the Maryland State legislature are applauding a move by local authorities that set these two bastions of liberty free again.
